About me

I am husband and a father who has been living in UAE since June 2007. I hold a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Physics from Mansoura University in Egypt where I studied physics, statistical analysis, AI, digital design and several programming languages including Basic, Visual Basic, C, C++, Assembly language, Fortran and LISP . I graduated in 1998.

I have been involved in the IT field since childhood thanks to my father. My father decided to buy our 1st computer which was MSX2 computer when I was about 10 years old. That computer opened my eye to the field of computers and programing. With that computer, I learned how to make silly and funny programs to move words and shapes across the monitor using BASIC language. This lead to programing becoming later my field of study and has helped me a great deal to structure my thought processes in a logical way.

My experience goes beyond programing, data analysis and building PCs. Back in 2009 after the economic winter hit UAE following the global financial crisis, I was reviewing some data related to the number of transactions and size done via Mastercard and VISA in the region. This lead me to conclude that ecommerce has a huge potential in this region.

As a result, I ran a pilot project to establish a pure online only store that sells electronics and PC parts using Magento which, to this day, is one of the best e-commerce platforms. The project ran from fall of 2009 till 2011 where I gathered the data required and even made sales to cover the 3000$ I spent on getting this project up and running.

At the time, I came to the conclusion that though ecommerce has a huge potential, the lack of laws and regulation governing ecommerce in relation to protecting the rights of customer and merchant alike will make it more like gambling than a reliable business. Hence for this project to mature to a real business, it will need a substantial amount of capital which was not available to me at the time. So by the end of 2011, I closed down the online store. However, I still own the domain.

My hobbies cover a variety of fields including IT related stuff, finance and economics. My goal from the articles posted on my website is to help readers enhance their life, reduce the risks of being a victim of fraudsters and enhance their savings/investments. I am open to new ideas and suggestions as long as they are legal and morally/ethically right.

A final comment, I have educated myself in many fields but I am not a financial adviser. My aim from finance related articles is to transfer the knowledge I gained and help you understand how the financial world works so you would have a chance navigate your own financial maze.
